Helpful Resources

"The time that a child is awake and paying attention and ready to learn isn't all spent in front of a teacher. From birth to age 18 years 85% of learning hours occur in the home."

Here you will find helpful web-links and resources to help further enrich your child's education. It is very important to work on skills with your child at home. I hope these resources will help you to facilitate that at-home education.

What you can do at home!

  1. Read to your child and have them read to you!!!!
  2. Practice your addition and subtraction facts, these should be memorized!!!
  3. Write - Second grade is an important time to practice writing. Try to think of creative everyday tasks your child can do. Maybe you and your child could write letters back and forth in a special notebook or have your child write the grocery list.
  4. Working with Money - Have your child make change at the store or practice breaking change. Think of real world activities you can do to build skills everyday. It will be fun, interactive and learning will occur.
